DESIGNED IN ATLANTA
MADE IN THE USA

Most furniture is a one-way transaction.

You buy it. You use it. You throw it out — because nothing about it was designed to go anywhere else. The foam is glued to the frame. The fabric is stapled over the foam

OBAN is the opposite. We design objects to come apart, wear in, get repaired, and come back to us when you're done with them. Designed in Atlanta. Made in the USA.

We sit at the intersection of circular design, material experimentation, and cultural expression. We design with repair built-in, reuse in mind, and recycling as the final step — not the first. That mindset shapes every choice: mono-material construction, modular components, visible joinery, and take-back programs that keep every piece in motion.

We operate as a living lab, not just a furniture brand; an experiment in the future of circular design. We believe that there isn't one singular business model that can solve disposability. Instead, there are multiple profitable ones and we'll test them one specific experiment at a time.

How we think about objects

Materials aren’t just decorative. They’re structural, expressive, and chosen for what happens after use as much as before. We prioritize mono-materials, renewable inputs, and low-impact finishes that can be taken apart, repaired, and returned to the system. Our approach follows a clear order: Repair first. Reuse second. Recycle last. That hierarchy drives experimentation — from recycled metals and bio-based plastics to cork, engineered wood, and emerging composites.  Every OBAN object is designed to be disassembled. Components are visible, accessible, and replaceable. When a material reaches the end of its life in one form, it’s designed to begin again in another. Materials should age. They should show use. And they should never be disposable.

How we build

We are not a legacy furniture brand. We don't release collections that live on a website forever. We release Series — distinct, time-constrained experiments where each product tests a specific hypothesis about circular design, ownership, and material science. Series 01 asks: will someone repair their own furniture if you remove the barriers? We don't know the answer yet. That's the point.

What we're not

We are not IKEA. We are not Design Within Reach. We're not competing on price and we're not competing on heritage. We're competing on integrity — of construction, of materials, of the system that surrounds the object. Our customer is the person who would have bought vintage because they couldn't find anything new worth trusting. We're building for them.

WHERE WE'RE GOING

OBAN is evolving, and so are the objects we make.

Year one is proof of concept — testing product-market fit, building an audience, and learning from the market in real time. Year two is about refining what we learn and deepening the systems. Year three is scale — trade programs, physical presence, made-in-America manufacturing.

But we're not waiting to have it all figured out before we start. We're starting, and figuring it out in public.

If that appeals to you — follow along.
